Overview

Ember is an adults-only personalized fiction service. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, which service providers help us run Ember, and what choices you have. We do not broker or sell your personal information for money. We do use carefully scoped service providers, analytics tools, and ad measurement tools to run the product and measure performance.

What We Collect

Depending on how you use Ember, we may collect contact details such as your name and email address; interview answers and story preferences, including romantic or sexual preference data you choose to share; gift details such as recipient name, email, and message; order data such as Stripe session IDs, payment status, and purchase amount; and optional review or testimonial content, including written responses, uploaded video, and social handles if you submit them.

We also collect technical and usage data needed to operate and measure the service, including IP address, browser and device information, pageviews, referrers, cookies, ad click identifiers, and attribution parameters such as UTM tags and Meta click IDs.

How We Use Your Data

We use your information to operate Ember: saving and restoring interview progress, processing payments, generating your preview and finished book, delivering files and transactional emails, handling rewrites, support, gifts, and review requests, protecting the service against abuse, and understanding which ads, pages, and product changes are working.

We may also use submitted interview and order data to improve the quality of the product, prompts, and fulfillment workflow. When we use data for internal analysis, we try to keep it scoped to what is needed for operations, product quality, and business learning.

Service Providers

Ember uses third-party providers to run the service. These include Stripe for payments, Supabase for database and file storage, Anthropic and related generation providers for story and preview generation, Postmark for transactional email, Vercel and Railway for hosting and jobs, PostHog for product analytics, Google Analytics for traffic measurement, Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights for site-level performance measurement, and Meta Pixel / Conversions API for ad attribution and conversion measurement. Those providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.

Cookies, Analytics, and Session Replay

Ember uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics, ad attribution, fraud prevention, and remembering how someone reached the site. We may use Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API, Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights, and PostHog. PostHog session replay is limited to non-sensitive Ember surfaces; it is suppressed on the interview, checkout, thank-you, gift redeem, and review flows. Payment entry happens on Stripe-hosted pages, not inside Ember.

You can reduce or block cookies through your browser settings and privacy tools, but some parts of the experience may work less well if you do.

Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to operate Ember, fulfill orders, handle rewrites and support, maintain business records, and comply with legal obligations. If you start an interview and do not purchase, Ember may send a short follow-up sequence. After that sequence completes, we strip certain intimate free-text fields from abandoned interview records while keeping limited analytics fields needed to understand the funnel.

Paid order records, generated files, and support history may be retained longer because they are part of fulfillment, support, and recordkeeping. Optional review submissions, including testimonial video, may remain until removed or no longer needed.

Reviews and Testimonials

If you submit a review, quote, reaction video, or social handle, we store that information to process your feedback and, if you explicitly give permission, to publish approved proof or follow up with you. We do not treat optional review content as public unless you separately authorize that use.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and vendor safeguards to protect information in transit and at rest. No system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices

You can email us to request deletion of your data, ask questions about what we have, or ask us not to use your optional testimonial materials. You can also reply to Ember emails if you want a human to step in on a live order or interview thread.

Adults Only

Ember is intended only for adults 18 and older. Because the interview may ask about romantic preferences, heat level, or darker themes, please do not use Ember or submit personal information if you are under 18.
