People We Meet on Vacation earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Movie and remains one of Netflix's strongest romance adaptations. Emily Bader and Tom Blyth brought Emily Henry's slow-burn friends-to-lovers story to life with the same dual timeline structure that made the book a BookTok phenomenon.
Reminders of Him marked Colleen Hoover's first screenplay credit, co-writing the adaptation with Lauren Levine. The film stars Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers and is now streaming on Peacock after a theatrical run that grossed over $90 million worldwide.

Verity is the most anticipated romance-adjacent release of 2026. The thriller adaptation stars Anne Hathaway as the manipulative author Verity Crawford and Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh, directed by Michael Showalter. The film is rated R and releases October 2, 2026 in theaters via Amazon MGM Studios.
The Love Hypothesis brings STEM romance to Prime Video with a September 23, 2026 release. Ali Hazelwood's fake-dating academic romance became a phenomenon on BookTok, and the adaptation targets the same audience that made Emily Henry and Colleen Hoover household names.

Beach Read began filming in 2026 with Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton) as January Andrews and Patrick Schwarzenegger as Augustus Everett. Yulin Kuang, who directed People We Meet on Vacation, is directing and writing the screenplay. The cast also includes Kevin Bacon, Andie MacDowell, Kristin Davis, and Tig Notaro. 20th Century Studios is targeting a May 7, 2027 release.
Fourth Wing was ordered to series by Prime Video in May 2026. Lisa Joy (Westworld) is directing the pilot, with Meredith Averill (The Witcher) as showrunner and Michael B. Jordan executive producing through Outlier Society. Rebecca Yarros is also an executive producer. Casting has not been announced yet, but Michael B. Jordan confirmed the approach will mix known actors with new faces and avoid obvious choices.

Emily Henry's entire backlist is now optioned. Funny Story was announced in January 2026 as a Netflix film, with Emily Henry writing her own screenplay through Lyrical Media and Ryder Pictures Company. Book Lovers is also in development as a film, with Sarah Heyward writing the screenplay. Happy Place shifted from a planned TV series to a film format, with Emily Henry writing the screenplay. All three projects are active but have no release dates yet.
Powerless is becoming a Prime Video series, announced June 2025. Daphne Ferraro, head writer of Maxton Hall Season 1, is showrunner. The Lauren Roberts romantasy trilogy has a dedicated fanbase, and the series is expected to target the same audience as Fourth Wing.

A Court of Thorns and Roses spent approximately four years in development at Hulu before Sarah J. Maas bought back the rights in March 2026. Maas stated she wanted to maintain full control and prevent losing control of the story. She has put a pause on all adaptations of her work, and no new development has been announced as of August 2026.
